The author Regine Sylvester wrote the scenario for DIE ALLEINSEGLERIN, which was based on Christine Wolter's autobiographical bestseller of the same name, with a great deal of irony. Herrmann Zschoche cast Christina Powileit, an amateur actress known as the drummer of the rock band "Mona Lise", in the leading role. A gamble that paid off. Shot on the picturesque Lake Scharmützel, the film with its strong female protagonist was one of the last major contemporary GDR productions by DEFA.
