Christine inherits her father's sailing boat. This is a burden for the young woman, as she was never enthusiastic about his hobby. Should she simply sell his heirloom? The single mother sacrifices herself for her child and her doctorate at the literature institute - men only stay for a short time. Now she also has a boat that urgently needs looking after. Christine is at the risk of collapse under the weight of her problems ... The author Regine Sylvester wrote the scenario for DIE ALLEINSEGLERIN, which was based on Christine Wolter's autobiographical bestseller of the same name, with a great deal of irony. Herrmann Zschoche cast Christina Powileit, an amateur actress known as the drummer of the rock band "Mona Lise", in the leading role. A gamble that paid off. Shot on the picturesque Lake Scharmützel, the film with its strong female protagonist was one of the last major contemporary GDR productions by DEFA. In 1988, DIE ALLEINSEGLERIN opened the Panorama section of the Berlinale. A rediscovery. (Philip Zengel)
